Dr Aleksandar Pantović is a neurologist and research associate at the Neurology Clinic of the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, Serbia. He received his PhD in Molecular Medicine – Neuroscience from the University of Belgrade.
During the first part of his academic career, his research was focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular survival, injury and neurodegeneration. His experimental work explored autophagy, apoptosis, cellular proliferation and intracellular energy-sensing pathways, with particular emphasis on AMPK/mTOR signaling and their role in cellular responses to metabolic and pathological stress.
His subsequent professional development has combined this background in molecular neuroscience with clinical neurology. His main clinical interests include multiple sclerosis and other neuroimmunological disorders, as well as headache disorders, migraine and facial pain.
Dr Pantović is actively involved in clinical research, scientific education and international professional collaboration.
