Assoc. Prof. Desislava Bogdanova, MD, PhD, graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 1992. She is a recipient of the “Acad. Dr. Asen Hadjiolov” Award for Young Scientists, Faculty of Medicine, Sofia (2002), and the Kauchtschischvili Award of the Fondazione CIRNA – Center for Research and Development in Neurology, Italy (2004).
She completed specialized training at the Hannover Medical School, Germany, in 2003; at the University of Barcelona, Department of Neurology and Neurophysiology, Spain, in 2005; and at the University of Pavia, Headache Center, Fondazione Mondino, Italy, in 2006. She is the author and co-author of 60 scientific publications.
She has served as Secretary of the Bulgarian Society of Neurology and as Secretary of the Association for Clinical Electromyography and Evoked Potentials.
Her clinical and academic interests include movement disorders, various types of tremor, polyneuropathies, pain and headache disorders, clinical electromyography, and the treatment of spasticity and dystonia with botulinum toxin injections.
Niw she is an Associate Professor at the Department of Neurology, Medical University of Sofia, and Head of the Clinic of Neurodegenerative and Peripheral Nervous System Diseases at St. Naum Multiprofile Hospital for Neurology and Psychiatry, Sofia.
