Born in Trabzon, Turkey, Prof. Dr. Murat Terzi completed his primary and secondary education in Samsun before graduating from the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Medicine in 2000. He earned his specialization in Neurology in 2005 and completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Neurosciences in 2022 at the same university. In his academic career, he became an Assistant Professor in 2006, Associate Professor in 2012, and Full Professor in 2018.
He has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Neurology at OMU Faculty of Medicine since 2006 and has held the position of Head of the Department since 2018. His administrative background includes senior leadership positions such as Head of the Department of Neuroscience at the OMU Graduate School, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Vice Rector of OMU from 2023 to 2024.
Serving as the President of the Turkish Neurological Society since 2023, Prof. Dr. Terzi is an active member of the Turkish Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Study Groups. He has served as a principal investigator in over 50 international research projects—focusing primarily on multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunology, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence—and holds an h-index of 33 backed by an extensive body of national and international publications. He is married and the father of two children.
