Zorica Stevic MD.Ph.D
Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, specialist in neuropsychiatry, now retired. From 1985 to 2024, she was employed at the Neurology Clinic of the Clinical Center of Serbia. She is a leading expert in Serbia in the diagnosis, support, and treatment of people living with ALS. In 1997, she founded the Serbian Association for Motor Neuron Diseases. Since its establishment, she has organized professional workshops providing support and assistance to ALS patients and their families. She also served as one of the directors of the International Alliance of ALS and Motor Neuron Disease Associations (2005–2008). She is also the founder of the Serbian Peripheral Nerve Society (2012), established with the aim of bringing together neurologists in Serbia who specialize in this group of diseases. She has organized numerous professional conferences dedicated to ALS and other neuromuscular diseases and is a frequent lecturer at symposia in Serbia and abroad. She is also a co-author of the first documentary film about people living with ALS, Invisible Heroes of Serbia (2021). Since 2025, she has been the manager of Foundation Fight against ALS in Serbia.She is the author of more than 360 scientific publications, including numerous papers published in leading international journals. She is the editor of a book on contemporary concepts in the diagnosis and treatment of neuropathies and a co-author of multiple book chapters covering various aspects of innovation, palliative care, and motor neuron diseases. She has also participated as a collaborator in numerous national and international research projects.
